HatchWorks AI Hackathon Puts Generative-Driven Development to the Test

At HatchWorks AI, Generative-Driven Development™ (GenDD) isn’t just a framework—it’s how we build. This quarter’s HatchWorks AI Hackathon proved exactly why.

Over one intense week, four cross-functional teams from across the Americas tackled real-world challenges from the private lending industry.

The goal: apply our GenDD methodology to design, build, and deliver AI-powered solutions faster and smarter—without sacrificing quality.

From Theory to Real-World Impact

GenDD is our methodology for embedding AI, agents, and agentic workflows into every stage of the software development lifecycle.

In practice, it means AI handles execution-heavy work like code generation, refactoring, and documentation, while humans orchestrate strategy, set constraints, and keep the end goal in focus.

The Hackathon put these principles into action:

  • Context is King – Teams started by feeding AI detailed project and technical context, just as they would onboard a new teammate.
  • Orchestrator Mindset – Participants guided AI through architecture decisions, design flows, and validation steps, using it as an executor while they shaped the vision.
  • Tight Feedback Loops – Human-in-the-loop review at every stage kept projects on track and improved outputs in real time.

Real Challenges, Real AI Solutions

Each team selected a use case tied to private lending pain points, from property valuation accuracy to renovation budget validation.

Highlights included:

MauroSoft – Solo build using strategic API integration to streamline property insights.

LoanShark – Business-focused reimagining of loan origination systems.

Property Pals – Intern-led team automating budget accuracy checks for fix-and-flip loans.

Alpha Dev – Technically robust appraisal platform already set for use in a live sales pitch.

Recognizing Excellence

Two teams took home top honors:

  • Winner – Alpha Dev:
Delivered a sales-ready solution with standout architecture and technical execution using GenDD workflows.
  • CEO’s Choice Award – Property Pals:
Solved what guest judge Jeff Tennyson, Chairman of the National Private Lenders Association, called the “holy grail” of budget accuracy.

Why It Matters

Brandon Powell, CEO of HatchWorks, emphasized the significance of the projects:

“GenDD isn’t a theory—it’s a repeatable way to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality. These teams proved its value by producing client-ready solutions in just one week.”

Omar Shanti, CTO, noted that the event demonstrated the value of GenDD as a space for exploration:

“Every winning project showed the power of combining human orchestration with AI execution. That’s the essence of GenDD—and it’s transforming how we build software.”

Looking Ahead

Several Hackathon projects will be showcased at the upcoming NPLA CEO Summit, putting HatchWorks AI’s GenDD-powered innovations in front of 30 of the most influential leaders in private lending.
